Vampire Killer for the MSX has mostly the same music as the NES version - except the ending song, which is entirely exclusive to this version. Thanks to Proto for ripping these.

Dwelling of Doom

The Famicom Disk version of Castlevania 2 had, quite honestly, pretty crappy music compared to the NES version. The Akumajou Dracula Best 1 album did include 3 tracks from the cartridge release, but not all of them. So this is the complete soundtrack.

Once again, this whole soundtrack is also on the Akumajou Dracula Best 1 album, but that is for the Japanese version, which has somewhat different sounding music, due to a special chip inside the cartridge. I'm personally split on some the music - songs like Beginning and Mad Forest sound much better in Japanese version, but songs like Rising are preferable in the American release. I recorded a majority of the songs from the sound test, leaving out the crappier tunes.

Considering that Belmont's Revenge has one of the coolest soundtracks you'll find on the Game Boy, the follow up certainly is disappointing. It's nice that some old favorites make a return, but other than a few OK tunes, there's little in the way of interesting music here.

Player Death
Final Level Victory
Game Over
Poison Mind (Another Nightmare)

I was always rather annoyed that the soundtrack release of Dracula X didn't have the non-CD Audio music tracks, but Protogem has recorded all of the synth music from ingame.

The SNES version had surprisingly faithful music compared to the PC Engine original. I actually prefer a few of the songs, such as Bloodlines and Cemetary here in the SNES one. I still don't know why they put in the outrageously crappy Picture of a Ghost Ship over Cross a Fear. *sigh* A special thanks to Elbryan42 for recording and encoding the last four songs.

There were a handful of new songs composed for Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, mostly for the new levels and some new cinema scenes. However, most of the music is the same. These are pretty much the most noteworthy tracks from the game. Too bad I couldn't get the intro without sound effects (and that loud burning) because it's a very cool piece of music. Oddly, the main theme for level 6 has the loud pops even on my television, so it's not a recording error on my part. Blasted N64. Outer Wall theme provided by JILost, all songs from "Bloodborn" on provided by Persmega X - these are also songs left off of the original Castlevania 64 OST.

After Harmony of Dissonance's slightly disappointing soundtrack, Konami swore by their very soul that Aria of Sorrow would better it in any way. Well, that's kind of an exaggeration, but things worked out for the best. This time the music is composed by Michiru Yamane of Symphony of the Night fame, as well as Soshiro Hokkai (who did Harmony) and Takashi Yoshida, who did the one arranged track on the Harmony of Dissonance CD. The sound quality now ranks up there with the better GBA titles, and there's some suitably rocking songs, including the Castle Corridor, Clock Tower and Heart of Fire, an arrangement of a few older songs. Other great songs include the Forbidden Area, Underground Waterway, Chapel and Prologue. Hopefully a soundtrack release will follow shortly. Music recorded my myself and Elbryan42 of the Castlevania Treasury

These are all MP3s provided by a source who wishes to remain anonymous - apparently composed by a group outside of Konami for Castlevania: Resurrection. I'm not sure exactly what the cartoon tracks are for, actually.

The music is a combination of the ambiance found in Castlevania 64 with dark goth techno - it's not a new Dracula X or SoTN, but it's certainly very good. Definitely the best song is Have Mercy - the rest are decent, but hardly standouts
