As if the flashbacks weren't enough...those Easter Island heads
are back. Dont'cha love dodging those blue n' red flashing donut things? What did you
do to ever tick them off? |
 |
See, you've angered them! Again, watch when the screen turns red, because the Moais will
go ape s@*! and attack like hell. If you're not powered up, you're just about screwed (like me in this picture, good thing I'm at
the easiest difficulty level!) |
 |
These three humongous heads will spit gobs of smaller chatting
figures at you. Any bombs or missles you have can take care of the
lower head, but the other ones require heavy laser attacks. |
 |
This is a cool level specific to the PC Engine Duo version, dubbed the "Ruins" level (reminscent of
level 5 in the NES version of Life Force.)
Those lovely statue lion-things come to life on higher difficulty levels. |
 |
Since ruins are of course ruined, you can bet that they'll try
to trash the poor ol' Vic Viper. Oh well. |
 |
This is a slightly more sane picture
of this desert level. The screen will fill up quickly though. Trust me. |
 |
Here's the boss. Kind of a letdown after all of the olden style
of the rest of the level, but still neat. Um...what else can I say? It has
wires that dig into the sand and it moves up and down. |
 |
Ooooh, boy! Here's the infamous "speed up" zone! If you don't
have two speed-ups, you can bet that you'll come slamming into a wall!
Good luck! |
 |
Yeah hot shot pilot, try and fly through THIS wall. It opens
and close, so stay near the left side of the screen so you can squeeze
through. There's a LOT more of these in this level. |
 |
"OK", you say when you approach this boss. "This boss is big,
but it's not really that threatening." Look below so you can put your
foot in your mouth. |
 |
Yup, those arms spread and shoots TONS of laser at you. Destroy
the cores to disable the arms then attack the center. This is REALLY tough
if you have the speed-ups that you need to survive the earlier parts of the level,
since to need to precisely dodge the lasers. |
