Although KRG Soft hadn't been established as a company until March 1997, the founding members of "Korea & Republic of Game"1 had begun to develop their first game 8 months earlier, after meeting at the 7th game development course LG's High Media School2. After 4 months development time they released the first version of Droiyan as freeware, before starting to remake the title as a commercial work3. CEO Pak Jihun also became chairman ofthe KGCA (Korean Game Creator Association) in February 19994, a position in which he mostly struggled to fight the warez scene5. The war was lost, and KRG Soft found itself in a tight spot, reduced from seventy to seven employees6. But the company managed to surive and make its comeback as part of Korea's thriving MMO game industry.

In June 2003, Enet planned to enter the market as well and announced its intention to take over KRG Soft, but apparently those plans fell through7. The developer was eventually consumed by Mgame, its publishing partner for the wildly successfull Yulhyul Kangho Online. In Fall of 2006, CEO Pak Jihun took his leave to found an independent company that would give him creative freedom and ownership of IPs again8. He was replaced by Jeon Jinsu on October 12th, 20069. Originally he wanted to take the KRG name with him, but eventually he settled for Kkureogi (bold letters by the editor) Soft10. Kkureogi's first title, WE Online, has been launched on November 5th, 2010 but already closed less than a year later, on September 16, 201111.
